Jobcentre Plus Careers and Job Fair | AOSEC

Bracknell & Wokingham College hosted a very successful and busy Job and Careers Fair in partnership with Job Centre Plus on Wednesday 20 February with over 900 people attending and with representation from over 50 employers and organisations.

The fair was opened by the Mayor of the Borough of Bracknell Forest ? Councillor Mrs Jennie McCracken and Councillor Mrs UllaKarin Clark ? Deputy Mayor of Wokingham Borough Council.

The fair generated lots of enquiries and many visitors signed up to courses or jobseekers? training on the day. Visitors and employers gave great feedback about the college facilities and it is anticipated that this will become an established annual event.

Campbell Christie, CBE, Principal of Bracknell & Wokingham College was delighted with the outcome of the day:

?The college was delighted to be able to host this very worthwhile event for our local community. Jobcentre Plus did a great job and we were very happy to run this prestigious event in partnership with them.

The Job Fair was a great opportunity to welcome people of all ages into our modern building to get valuable a

dvice and experience which will help them to build their futures. We were also pleased to see so many representatives from the local business community attending offering jobs and advice.?

Jacqui Henson, Customer Services Operations Manager for Jobcentre Plus was equally pleased:

?Jobcentre Plus is committed to getting people into sustainable employment. Events like this enable people to talk to employers, find out what it?s like to work for them and it also allows people to get help and advice from partner organisations in interview, IT and CV-building skills.

?This has also been an excellent example of working closely with Bracknell & Wokingham College and we are very appreciative of them letting us use their premises.?

The local businesses involved were also glad to have been able to contribute to this successful event. Kevin Garrett, Head of Community Projects at Waitrose said:

?As one of the largest employers in Bracknell, Waitrose was delighted to take part in the New Year, New Career event. It was great to be part of the collaborative effort that brought such a large group of employers together to showcase the jobs Bracknell has to offer?
