There's a branch of robotics research that doesn't necessarily believe that future automatons have to be filled with pistons, gears, and motors. Dancing the tango built up an appetite! A lot of brides say they either weren't hungry at their wedding, or they didn't have time to eat. Not the case here. I was ready to stuff my face. A late afternoon dinner was provided by?Skillet, the acclaimed Seattle food truck. They served up our favorite comfort foods out of their vintage Airstream trailer.

My pops also built the bar, using scraps of old wood.?Scott Mallard, our bartender, served up two signature cocktails. Hal's was named, "Hal In Washington", made with?whiskey and Martinelli's. Sounds strange, but it was delightfully pleasant. Mine was called,?"Green Eyed Lady", made?with gin, cucumber and mint. We served local beer from from 7 Seas?& Sound Brewery?kegs, and cold non-alcoholic drinks out of a canoe filled with ice.
Kelly of?Tortes and Tarts?baked a lovely assortment of dessert table goodies:?brownies, cookies, pie pops and cannolis, presented with the tea party china I was given at?my bridal shower.
I initially wanted a cake made of cheese, but it would have melted in the sun. And Hal craved the real deal. So we asked my cousin, Isaac, who decorates cakes in his spare time, to make us one. We asked for something small, simple, and chocolate. He delivered, beautifully.?

Earlier this month, we told you about a U.N. report that makes the case for insects to improve global food security: They're cheap, plentiful and environmentally sustainable. Now, the coming of the 17-year cicadas provides East Coast Americans, for whom bug eating is considered novel at best, with an opportunity to try local insect cuisine.
If you're willing to try cicada cookery, there's a book to guide your way, as NPR's Yuki Noguchi reports Wednesday on All Things Considered. Cicada-licious, published in 2004 and available for free online, features recipes for cicada dumplings, tacos and chocolate-covered cicadas.
Author Jenna Jadin tells Yuki that, before cooking, you should break off the legs and wings ? "they kind of tear off pretty easily."
"Then rinse them off," Jadin says, to "make sure all the soil bacteria is off of them."
Back when cicadas infested Chicago in 2007, freelance food writer David Hammond also gave the critters a culinary go. "My goal was to get them right as they were coming out of the ground," he tells NPR. "Young. Veal, if you will. Ha ha."
He realizes Western diners might be put off or grossed out by the idea of eating bugs ? but weird is all relative, he notes. (After all, 2 billion people already eat bugs, mostly in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Australia.)
"Cheese is the grossest thing in the world," Hammond says. "You know, it's rotten milk. You eat rotten milk? That's disgusting! Yeah, well, we love it."
Then there's the fact that ? hate to break it to you ? you've probably already eaten bugs without realizing it.
"Insects are a part of all processed foods," Jadin writes in her cookbook, "from bread to tomato ketchup ? it's impossible to keep mass-produced food 100% insect-free. There are regulations stating the maximum amount of bug bits that food can contain and still be fit for human consumption."
Sit back and digest that for a second.
But of course, the big question is: How do they taste? Word on the street is that cicadas are kind of nutty or kind of like asparagus.
Jadin cooked up a batch of the noisy, red-eyed bugs for our intrepid reporter to sample: candied with brown sugar and seasoned with Sriracha, then baked in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. The verdict?
"It's kind of like caramel popcorn," Yuki tells us.

Part of the energy used to move a car, truck or plane is spent overcoming the friction posed by air. The force caused by that friction is known as aerodynamic drag ? and it can really hold a vehicle back. Over the years, researchers have developed ways to cut that drag. Now, an 18-year-old engineer has come up with a new approach. It?s specifically designed to boost the fuel efficiency of large trucks. And her solution: Just?cover its surface with?lots of tiny dimples.
Daniela Jimenez of?Preparatoria del Tecnologico de Monterrey in Zapopan, Mexico, presented her findings on May 13 in Phoenix, Ariz., at the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair. LITTLE ROCK -?Arkansas lawmakers on Tuesday approved spending nearly $16.5 million in federal funds to continue setting up a marketplace where more than 500,000 people can shop for insurance under the health care law.
The Arkansas Legislative Council approved spending two grants from the federal government for Arkansas to set up its insurance exchange. The state has received more than $43 million in federal funds for the exchange.
The panel, which meets when the Legislature isn't in session, approved the grants on a 23-9 vote despite objections from some Republicans lawmakers over implementing the health care law in the state.
"The concerns are the same as they've always been. We're taking a lot of federal dollars that the federal government doesn't have, and I'm wondering how wisely we're spending those dollars," said Rep. Debra Hobbs, R-Rogers, who voted against the grants.
Cynthia Crone, who leads the Insurance Department's Health Benefits Exchange Partnership division, said the funds will help the state as it moves toward the start of open enrollment for the exchange in October. The state this summer is hiring more than 600 people to help enroll people for the insurance exchange.
"I think our state has done a tremendous job," Crone told reporters after the hearing. "The team that's working has done well, the contractors have done well. We are a leader among the partnership states."
Arkansas is one of seven states using the partnership model for running its health exchange.
Under the partnership models, the federal government will be responsible for several areas, including eligibility determinations, enrollment of individuals and operating the call center. The state will determine criteria for certifying health insurance plans, monitoring plans for continued participating, providing direct consumer outreach and education and providing consumer complaint resolution.
About half of the people who will buy insurance through the exchange are doing so under a plan lawmakers approved earlier this year to purchase private insurance for low-income residents using federal Medicaid funds. The "private option" was approved as an alternative to expanding Medicaid's enrollment under the health care law.

The Telegraph reports that San Francisco-based company?Lamda Labs has created a facial recognition application for Google Glass that will be available to Glass developers sometime over the next few days. The development of facial recognition features is particularly important with Glass because Google made a point of not including such technology in its first build of the device?s software, although it never forbade developers from creating their own facial recognition apps.?The Telegraph?says that initially the software ?forces users take photographs, tag them with information on who is in them and then compare any subsequent photographs taken to those previously uploaded? while adding that future versions ?may allow real-time recognition of faces.?

According to the official Twitter account of the former Beatle, McCartney dropped a personal guitar pick on Elvis Presley's grave and said it was "so Elvis can play in heaven."
The lifelong Elvis fan toured Graceland, the Memphis mansion, on Sunday.
He was in Memphis to play a show on the North American leg of his "Out There" tour.
The show at FedExForum marked McCartney's first visit to the city in two decades.
