HILLSBORO, Ore. -- If you drive an electric vehicle (EV) and need to re-fuel it with electricity, Hillsboro is ready to help.
With 30 EV charging stations in its inventory, the latest charging station to be installed is a Blink(R) DC fast charger that will charge an EV in 30 minutes. It is the first operational fast charge unit in Washington County.
City-installed charging stations can be found at:
- Main Street in front of the Civic Center (150 E. Main Street)
- Civic Center parking lots, 150 E. Main St. & 300 W. Main St. (including the fast charge unit)
- Intermodal Transit Facility (8th and Baseline)
- Gordon Faber Recreation Complex (4450 NW 229th Avenue)
- Parks Administration Offices (4400 NW 229th Avenue)
- Main Library (2850 NE Brookwood Parkway)
- Jackson Bottom north viewing area (996 S 1st Ave Hillsboro Highway)
- Walters Cultural Arts Center (527 E. Main Street)
The charging stations provide the infrastructure support for EVs so people will be able to charge up at no cost.
According to Bob Reitmajer, Facilities and Fleet Director for the City of Hillsboro, "We are pleased we have the first fast charge unit in Washington County which complements the others we've installed. Electric vehicle drivers will be able to quickly charge downtown while visiting our local shops and farmers markets. This is another big step forward for our community sustainability efforts."
Currently the City does not charge to use any of its EV charging stations. Hillsboro has installed two types of charging stations, Blink and Coulomb units. Both can be accessed with an RFID card.
Blink units are also accessed with a card available online or by calling 888-998-2546.
Coulomb units can be accessed with a card online or by calling 1-888-758-4389.
